OneMansWeightLoss.com is a blog that will be following the progress of Daniel Hagan in his weight loss Journey!
I was born in 1977 on the south side of Chicago in a working class family. I moved to Florida when I was just 4 years old and I have lived there since. I have been married since 2006, have a young daughter and I an owner of a production company that focuses on the TV and Live Music industries.
About My Weight
For a big part of my life I was an athlete. I played many sports in high school and continued my sports career through college and even a bit of post college sports. After my sports career ended I continued to play sports for recreational, including hockey, softball and basketball.
In 2010 I was involved in a major car accident. A fully loaded 18 wheel tanker truck ran into my stopped vehicle at 45 miles per hour. I suffered significant damage to my neck and back that required quite sometime to recover from.
The injuries made it difficult to exercise and near impossible to play sports. The sedentary lifestyle that was a result of the crash made me gain weight for the first time in his life. From 2010 to January 2015 I went from weighing a fit and trim 180lbs to 245lbs.
About My Struggle
Because of my athletic lifestyle I was never concerned about diet. I ate poorly and enjoyed many types of fast food. My diet included tons of food and most of it was quite unhealthy.
After the crash I continued to eat poorly and this plus a sedentary lifestyle caused me to gain quite a bit of weight.
In August of 2015 I decided enough was enough. The injuries from the crash can no longer be used as an excuse (I can exercise and play most sports now). It is time to get back into shape and to learn to eat healthier.
